Il Beta SDM Corse MX Team ha deciso di prendere parte alla prima prova del Campionato Italiano che si è svolta a Maggiora in previsione della tappa iridata che si correrà il 3-4 Luglio ma anche per continuare il lavoro di sviluppo.
Jimmy Clochet rientra in gara dopo la brutta caduta rimediata a Mantova e che ha rallento il lavoro del pilota francese con la sua moto.
In questo primo appuntamento del Campionato Italiano, con l’inizio del mondiale spostato a metà giugno, la MX1 ha visto un numero altissimo di iscritti costringendo gli organizzatori a dividere i piloti in tre gruppi.
Van Horebeek e Clochet si sono trovati subito a proprio agio sulla pista di Maggiora, con un fondo in condizioni perfette, ed hanno fatto segnare rispettivamente il secondo e il terzo tempo nel loro rispettivo gruppo.
La domenica la pista si è presentata con il fondo appesantito dalla pioggia caduta nella notte aumentando ancora la difficoltà per i piloti.
In gara 1 ottima partenza di Van Horebeek che ha mantenuto un buon ritmo di gara senza esagerare per non incappare in errori date le condizioni molto pesanti della pista. Il pilota belga ha chiuso in seconda posizione. Clochet con una buona partenza si è subito inserito nel gruppo dei primi in quinta piazza; peccato per una scivolata che lo ha relegato all’ottavo posto finale.
Al via di gara 2 Van Horebeek non è riuscito ad avere una buona uscita dal cancello perdendo diverse posizioni. Jeremy dopo aver preso un ottimo ritmo ha recuperato diverse posizioni fino al terzo posto, negli ultimi giri ha provato ad attaccare Lupino per la seconda piazza ma la pista era diventata mono traiettoria e non ha voluto cercare il sorpasso per non compromettere il risultato.
Brutta partenza per Clochet in gara 2 e sommata ad una caduta lo ha visto scendere nelle parti basse della classifica, Jimmy con una buona rimonta ha chiuso al dodicesimo posto con un ottimo passo gara.
Jeremy Van Horebeek chiude al secondo posto assoluto questo prima gara di Campionato Italiano.
Beta SDM Corse MX Team participated in the first round of the Italian Championship which took place in Maggiora, the same location of the round set for the 3-4 July of the World Championship. The participation was helpful also to continue the development work.
Jimmy Clochet was back to the races after a bad crash in Mantua which slowed down the French rider’s work with his bike.
In this first round of the Italian Championship, with the kick-off of the world championship postponed to mid-June, the MX1 saw a very high number of participants, forcing the organizers to divide the riders into three groups.
Van Horebeek and Clochet immediately found themselves at ease on the Maggiora track, which was in perfect conditions. The former got the second place, while the latter ranked third in their respective groups.
On Sunday the track had a heavy surface due to the rain that fell overnight, increasing the difficulty for the drivers.
In the first race, Van Horebeek got off to a good start and was able to maintain a good rhythm, always keeping such a pace that would avoid possible mistakes caused by the bad conditions of the track. The Belgian rider ended up second. Also Clochet kicked-off well, and he immediately entered the top group reaching the fifth place. Unfortunately, a bad slip relegated him to the eighth final place.
At the start of the second race, Van Horebeek did not have a brilliant exit from the gate, losing several positions. Nonetheless, he managed to reach a good pace, recovering several positions and ending up in the third place. In the last laps he tried to attack Lupino to gain the second place, but the track had become single-trajectory and he did not want to risk compromising the result.
Bad start for Clochet in the second race. On top of that, a crash made him go down to the lower positions of the leaderboard. With a good comeback, Jimmy obtained the twelfth place with an excellent race pace.
Jeremy Van Horebeek closed this first race of the Italian Championship in the second place overall.
