second. Another Katusha Team rider, Daniel Moreno, took the 5th place in overall ranking, 1’13” behind Chris Froome (Sky).
“I’m satisfied of my performance – said ‘Purito’ – it was a great ‘Vuelta’ for me. All the team and staff supported me: I want to thank Itera, our main sponsor, and Igor Makarov, the chief of the Russian Cycling Global Project, that allowed me to be the leader of one of the strongest teams in the world and try to win the most important competitions. I’m a little disappointed in the final stage I lost two jerseys, but I must be realist: both Contador and Valverde are very strong riders. Anyways, the team should be happy about the job we did in this ‘Vuelta’: we entered the final podium, we won 4 stages, we kept the jersey 13 days and we were always protagonist. Now I hope to go to the World Championships, where I’ll try to take the best possible result”.
